ROBINSON CRUSOE (After D. Defoe)
Part II
Some time passed and Robinson began to build a house. He made it of thick trees and grata. Then he made a chair and a table. All this took a lot of time because he could work only in the daytime. He had no light and went to when it was dark.
Early in the morning Robinson usually got up and went to the wood. He caught birds and picked berries, fruitand birds' eggs. His dog helped him.
Some years passed. One day Robinson was at the seashore when he saw five boats nonr the island. He ran to the clump of trees and stood behind it. The boats reached the shore and many black men se'. foot on the shore. They made a big fire and danced round it.
Suddenly they ran to one of the boats and took two men out of it. They brought the men to the fire and killed one of them. The second man ran into the water near the place where Robinson stood. Only two men went into the water after that man. Robinson killed those two men with his gun. Then he called the man to come up to him. The man understood Robinson, and came up to him. The black man was young and Robinson liked him. He took the young man to his house and gave him some food to eat and some clothes. After that the young man lived in Robinson's house and helped him in his work. Robinson gave him the name of Friday because the man came to his house on that day of the week. Friday learned to speak English very quickly. He helped Robinson to get food in the wood and did it very well. Robinson Crusoe was happy now that he had a friend.
