AMERICANS ARE FRIENDLY
When Americans are introduced for the first time, they usually shake hands. When they meet friends or relatives, they sometimes kiss them on the cheek. It is common for two women or a man and a woman to kiss in this way, but men almost never kiss each other on the cheek.
Americans are friendly. In small towns people say "hello" to friends and strangers on the street. Even in cities strangers may start up a conversation.
Sometimes foreigners feel Americans are too friendly. People you have only just met may ask you personal questions or tell you all about themselves.
b) Answer the questions.
What do Americans do when they are introduced for the first time?
Do men kiss each ether on the cheek when they meet? Do Americans greet strangers in small towns? Americans are friendly, aren't they? Why do you think so?

— But if we take the 8.15 train we won't get to school until 9.
— Perhaps you're right. Let's hurry.
2. — What a pity we've missed that bus (tram). We don't have
very much time.
— Don't worry. Another one will be here in a minute. They run every two minutes.
3. — Excuse me. Can you tell me the way to the institute?
