GOING TO THE CINEMA
1 am very fond of going to the cinema. There was a good picture at our local cinema last week, so my friends and I decided to see it. We arrived there at 7 o'clock, in a quarter of an hour before the newsreel. In the foyer we saw the portraits of Ukrainian and foreign film stars and frames of some new films.
Our seats were just in the centre of the hall. Besides we heard perfectly because the sound equipment was good.
After the newsreel we saw the feature. It was a Hollywood film about college life, and it was very entertaining.
In the picture the students played football, went to dance and sang to pretty girls. In fact, they did everything but study. The acting and music were good, but the film didn't show how American students really live.
My friend saw many pictures and she said that they did not present a true picture of American life. The films often exaggerate or emphasize the sensational and exceptional instead of showing how most people in the United States really live. The fact is that most Americans usually go to the pictures for amusement. They want to escape from the monotonous routine of everyday life. They do not take the cinema seriously, because they know that the films are made ocpcoially to entertain the public.
