AMERICANS PAY TRIBUTE TO GREAT KOBZAR There's no other place in the world where monuments to great poets of the world literature — Ukrainian Taras Shevchenko, Rus­sian Alexander Pushkin, Bilorussian Yanka Kupala, and American Walt Whitman — stand near-by on one lawn. Members of the Ukrainian American League (UAL) traditionally gather there, in Arrow Park (Monroe, New York) in early March. The immortal "The Testament" by Shevchenko resounded in the park, beautiful spring flowers were laid at the monument to the great poet. The UAL activists and their guests, representatives of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN laid flowers at the monuments lo the luminaries of Ukrainian, Russian, Bilorussian and American culture. The acting permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN, addressed those present with a greeting speech. UAL executive secretary delivered a speech dedicated to the great son of the Ukrainian people.
